A Prayer in the Darkness: The Black Gold must Shine once More by Priestess Bairavee Balasubramaniam, PhD

Prayer in the Darkness Bairavee Balasubramaniam new site

The Dark Mother, Goddess of the Night,
of the Deep Cave, the Source of all Light,
Your face I see cast in shadow,
Harsh lines etched with an obsidian arrow,
Why don’t you glow? Why don’t you shine?
With rainbow colours and celestial dancers,
Why don’t you fly? Why don’t you cry?
Do you smile? Do you laugh?
Is it you I see, or only my own mask?

Trails of tears I see through your eyes,
Wailing voices muted in mid-cry,
Thousands of years of silence and isolation,
What did we do? Oh Goddess, what did we do?

The Exile before me, The weight of history unfolding,
I cannot bear it all. How can She? How can anyone?

The Stolen Child, the Broken Womb,
The Maiden, The Innocent, The Virgin I saw,
She stands before me – called – Witch, Devil, Whore!

I fall to my knees and I weep,
My tears mingling with thousands more,
A prayer in the Darkness is Born.

Of Love, of loyalty,
Of Tenderness and fealty,
A date with destiny,
That Black Gold must shine once more!

Slowly but surely that mask will peel,
Fine features and Joy to reveal,
The smile of the aged Crone,
The hope of the verdant Mother,
The twinkle of the Maiden .. Once More…

Once more… Once more…

The Black Gold must shine once more!

In the cave, in the womb, in the mountains and the heavens,
With Rainbows, with shades of Grey,
With earthy browns and hues of blue-green,
In whatever form, come what may,
Smile once more my beloved Queen,
Smile once more in this Cosmic Dream.

Blows my mind. It appears as effortless as breathing. Unbelievable.

Your poetry. It’s amazing. Sorry I’m not being very descriptive here, I’m not a poetry critic, I only feel that. Appeals to my Scorpio water self maybe.

Just as stellar as the first time I read it!!! Amazing grace.
